‘National Geographic’ Announces 2019 Travel Photo Contest Winners

National Geographic has introduced the winners of its 2019 Travel Photo Contest, handing off the grand prize to photographer Weimin Chu for his photo of the Upernavik fishing village in Greenland. Entitled “Winter in Greenland,” the photograph was changed into and entered into the “Cities” category and captures the Nordic town’s colorful houses on a snowy day.

“It felt so harmonious. The complete land was covered by white, cold snow, and the blue tint at dusk made it even cooler. But the mild from the windows, road lights, and the family of three made the world warm once more,” Chu said. “I love the evaluation and temper of this scene. I became busy taking non-stop pics at that point, trying to seize the excellent second.”

The Chu takes home a reward of $7,500, together with a publish on National Geographic‘s Travel Instagram account.
